The Conference on Wilderness and Large Natural Habitat Areas which took place under the Czech Presidency on 27 and 28 May 2009 adopted the final document "Poselstvi from Prague"  - An Agenda for Europe' s Wild Areas in which the participants agreed to the need to protect the remaing 1% of the European wilderness. The conference initiate the discussion about what has to be done in order to fulfill this goal. This very important event was launched by the former president of the Czech Republic, Mr. Vaclav Havel.

The EU Nature Directors Meeting, an event organised during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will take place from 8 to 10 June 2009 in Prague, at the Don Giovanni Hotel. It will focus on the Article 6.3 of the Habitats Directive Implemetnation, issue of monitoring, data gathering, reporting, issue of connectivity and on further more isseus important for the EU nature directors.  For more information, go to www.pragint.cz/ndm2009.

The Czech Republic fulfilled its obligation arising out of the COP Decision and sent its 4th National Report on 7th May 2009 to the CBD Secretariat. The Report is now publically available here, in English only.
